Art of Holy Week: Two Reflections

The Hall together with Christ Church will be offering two meditations on works of art this Holy Week.

These will take place on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th April at 4pm and all are welcome to attend. The theme of these meditations is that of 'Sorrowful Mysteries.'

On Wednesday at 4pm there will be a talk at Campion Hall by the Very Revd Professor Martin Percy, Dean of Christ Church and Professor Peter Davidson, Senior Research Fellow at the Hall on the painting by Palma Vecchio, 'Christ at the Column.'

Thursday at 4pm has Rev'd James Campbell, SJ, Assistant Superior of Campion Hall, and Jacqueline Thalmann, Curator of the Picture Gallery at Christ Church, speaking on 'Nine Scenes from the Passion of Christ' from the 14thC Tuscan School at The Picture Gallery, Christ Church.

These talks will give a description of the artistic context of the paintings and a spiritual/theological reflection on them for Holy Week. It is hoped that this will provide a means of entering into this Week  in some depth and be moments of meditation and reflection on this most central time of the following of Christ.
