Campion Fellow lectures at Ashmolean

Campion Fellow and Librarian Rev'd Dr. Frank Turner, SJ delivered a Good Friday reflection on The Deposition by Flemish Baroque painter Anthony van Dyck. The painting is a vivid and evocative scene kept by the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. It is believed to have been painted around 1619, when van Dyck was an assistant to Rubens in Antwerp. 

Frank Turner's past positions include academics posts at the University of Manchester, Heythrop College, and the University of San Francisco as well as serving as Assistant General Secretary of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales from 1997- 2004 followed by nine years in Brussels as an advisor and expert at the Jesuit office that analyses and comments on the affairs of the European Union.
