Rev Professor Konrad Grech SJ is a member of the Jesuit Maltese Province, who qualified in Church History and Archivistics, and gained his doctorate, at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He is currently senior lecturer and head of the Department of Church History in the Faculty of Theology of the University of Malta, having previously worked in Rome’s Jesuit Historical Institute and served in Strasbourg as a member of OCIPE (Office Catholique d'Information et d'Initiative pour l'Europe), and as local attaché to the Holy See’s Permanent Mission to the Council of Europe. He has also served as Ecclesiastical Judge on the Maltese Metropolitan Tribunal.
In his sabbatical semester in Oxford Professor Grech plans to research fresh material for his writings on the Society of Jesus and on the Holy See and diplomacy. He also looks forward to visiting the theatre, cinema and museums, and even to punting!
